Hi, my name is Shona Clack, and I am the founder and dance teacher of the Shona Clack School of Dance. I am married to Gary and together we have two children Laura and Callum, our son Callum is guest teacher with the dance school.

I founded the Shona Clack School of Dance 27 years ago in 1990, with a vision of teaching people of all ages a wide variety of dancing styles to lead them to diverse and sparkling careers in dance teaching, musical theatre and television. My aim is to increase the skill and confidence of all dancers from tiny tots to adults, with each and every one of us playing a role within the school – whether it be leading classes, teaching choreography for shows & competitions, fundraising for charity events or preparing for our annual Christmas Show.

We like to think of our dancing school as an extension of our family, and it gives us immense pride to watch all the wonderful things our pupils accomplish. Over the years, students from the Shona Clack School of Dance have performed in shows and pantomimes at the Wycombe Swan Aylesbury Civic Centre and Aylesbury Waterside Theatre, village fetes, many regional and national competitions and even in West End shows in London.

Shona’s Dance Career

I began dancing Disco at the age of fifteen at night school, when the crazes of Disco Fever and Grease were incredibly popular among young people. I later went on to learn Ballroom, Latin American, Ballet and Tap dancing, and from then I was hooked. I decided to train as a dance teacher, and from there my love of dance flourished into a career – I was soon performing in and choreographing local dance shows for amateur theatre groups and teaching others in a wide range of dance styles.

Since I founded the School in 1990, I have continued to further my exam success, becoming a Disco Freestyle and Rock ‘n’ Roll Competition Adjudicator with the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing. I have an extensive knowledge and experience of working with dyslexic and disabled students, and I have worked with a wide range of different age groups. I currently teach Chair Dancing, singing, Latin American and Ballroom in local residential homes for older people, and I have also worked with pre-school and primary school-aged children teaching dance in Breakfast Clubs.

I owe a great deal of my success to my former teachers, the late Betty Bouston, and Yvonne Taylor Hill whom I continue to train with today. They were a huge inspiration to me in the early years of my dancing career, and I strive to be a similar inspiration and support to all of my students at the Shona Clack School of Dance. In my spare time, I enjoy visiting the theatre and travelling with my husband Gary.
